How should California make up the projected 28 billion dollar shortfall projected over the next 20 months?

Barack Obama has a message for the readers of Vibe: "I need you."

In a letter to be published in the November issue, the Democratic presidential candidate is given a page to address the readers of the urban music monthly magazine. In it, Obama urges them to register to vote, saying, "We are at a defining moment in our history."

"I am running for president to take this country in a new direction. But I can't do it alone. I need you," the letter reads. "Whether it's the first time, or the first time in a long time, I need you to register and vote on November 4."

Obama is featured on the cover of the magazine for the second time _ the first was for the September 2007 issue. He also gets the endorsement of the magazine, the first presidential endorsement ever made by Vibe.

Obama is leading in the polls. And frankly, I think its because McCain and republican strategists are still trying to be divisive by race-baiting and belittling Obama rather than offering a way out of problems that Americans care about right now, which includes the culture-war politics that keep Americans from discussing real issues. If republicans can't win a real democratic referendum on the issues, which is what I legitimately think Obama is doing right now (even though I don't agree with him on the issues) than maybe its time for new leadership. There's still time to make a case against it, and maybe something will change between now and election day that make conservative policies more attractive, but there's no reason to drop every principle you hold in order to win. If the democrats get handed this mess of problems, we should do everything we can to influence the process, but d**n, I think you have to wish them luck, because its everybody's county and no one wants it going down the drain just to make a point. Ultimately its how democracy works--sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains.

I'll do everything I can to convince voters going the other way that I'm right, but I'm not about to tell citizens of this country that they don't have a right to make up their own mind. Yeah its ridiculously frustrating--but blame Andrew Jackson and the idea that everyone should get a vote (updated by the 15th, 19th, and 26th amendments), not Obama. Sometimes its hard living in a country where people are different than you, but again, its democracy and so far its the best system devised, and it will be as long as we can treat each other with respect instead of cluttering up the public sphere with incessant whining.

So I say again, deal with it.

Obama winning?
Hey "Real Black Man"

Obama isn't "winning" anything. We haven't voted yet.
